Nostalgic Soul Collective is a Black-owned and operated vintage shop and living archive committed to preserving, educating, and celebrating the rich cultural history of the African American experience. We do this through objects and collectibles that once filled homes, record stores, salons, libraries, and community spaces.
But we’re more than a shop. Through our online presence, pop-up events, and curated exhibits, Nostalgic Soul Collective becomes a space for storytelling, discovery, education, and reconnection. We gather fellow nostalgic souls who understand that these aren’t just vintage items—they’re living pieces of our collective history.
Our mission is to build and share a living archive that honors Black culture through storytelling, curated experiences, and community. Whether it’s a vintage magazine, vinyl record, doll, or household item, each object we share holds its own story and significance. We invite others to not just observe history, but to engage with it, contribute to it, and carry it forward.

Our Roots

“My passion for archiving and storytelling began as a child growing up in 1970s Philadelphia. But it was in the late ’80s and early ’90s that I became a serious collector—starting with magazines documenting the African American experience. Over time, my collection expanded to include dolls, toys, stamps, and other artifacts that speak to the breadth of our culture.”
“My earliest connection to storytelling began at home, listening to tales—whether made up or passed down. I’ve always been drawn to stories: the characters, the settings, the culture embedded in every detail. That passion naturally found a home in the classroom and later, as a librarian. For me, history is a playground of stories—fact and fiction alike—and each artifact is a portal to another time.”
Whether you’re discovering us for the first time or returning to reconnect with pieces from your past, we hope Nostalgic Soul Collective offers inspiration, memory, and meaning. Here, we share rare and meaningful items we’ve collected over the years, spark conversations about culture and identity, and help others find pieces that reflect their own stories.
Join us as we celebrate the legacy of Black culture—through the objects that shaped our past and continue to inspire our future.
